NYC Radio The Night John Lennon Died

The Night John Lennon DiedMy buddy Tim Weaver sent me a link to WFMU's Beware of the Blog featuring NYC Radio The Night John Lennon Died. Click here to listen to a dial scan of New York City's FM band from 25 years ago. It was recorded shortly after the news of John Lennon's murder broke.

I remember when I found out about John Lennon - it was the following morning and I was hopping on the school bus. A guy named Fran was talking about it, and all the radio's on the bus tuned to some radio tribute...

This is one freaky MP3 file - who thinks about recording a radio scan at a time like that?

Wow..I remember this so well, I was in my room, listening to WMMR at the time and writing in my journal.
I can't remember who was on the air at the time, but they gave the news report, and the name. I wrote the name "Mark David Chapman" on the outside cover of my journal. I still have it.
